Thanks to a first-class ownership (shared with the award-winning ‘Dali’ in Somerville, MA) and an even better location (the heart of Newbury Street, downtown Boston ), Tapeo is easily the city’s most popular Spanish restaurant.

After ordering a pitcher of their lethal sangria ( the best sangria in Boston), you will face the difficult task of selecting from the menu’s lengthy listing of hot and cold tapas plates. Their cocktail and wine menu is the best one yet. Make sure you don’t drive to Tapeo or have a teetotaller as your designated driver! Their Mojitos, Sangrias, wines and the rare specialty caipirinhas are so worth the extra walk , train/bus rides  or cab rides you will need to make.
I just recently posted about Cachaca and Caipirinha and now you have a place to go try it out!

My trip there with my friends usually includes this standard drink order. If not all, do try atleast some of it. Its the best!

The Sangria ofcourse, Caipirinha ( Cachaca (Brazilian Sugarcane Liquor) muddled w/ Lime & Sugar), Pomegranate Caipirinha(Caipirinha made w/ Pama Pomegranate Liquor)
Caipiroshka (Stoli Vodka muddled w/ Lime & Sugar), The Cava-tini( Equal parts of Stoli Vodka, Grand Marnier & Cava), Spanish Margarita( Sauza Gold Tequila, Licor 43, Lemon & Lime Juice)

People usually discourage me from going to a tapas bar when they find out I am a vegetarian, but everyone is so mistaken! Tapeo is one of my favorite eating places despite my being vegetarian. Their menu is one of the very few tapas menus made out with the intention of really satisfying everyone.

The best of their Tapas Calientes (Hot Tapas) includes sizzling dishes of Patatas Bravas(Baby Potatoes w/ Piquant Tomato & Ali Oli Sauces), intricate bunuelos (puffs) of broccoli, cauliflower and cheese, Queso de Cabra Montañes( Baked Goat Cheese w/Tomato & Basil) and Filloa de Vegetales(Vegetarian Crepe).

The best of their Tapas Frias (Cold Tapas) includes Tortilla Española(Egg/Potato/Onion Omelette), Patatas Ali-Oli (Potatos on a Homemade Garlic/Caper Mayonnaise) and Esparragos Blancos(Spanish White Asparagus in sauces). You may already know that the spanish omlette is like no other, and Tapeo proves that they are still the best with their Tortilla Espanola.

Finsih off your meal with the delicious Flan, Filloa al Licor( Fruit-filled Dessert Crepe accented with Chocolate Sauce and Orange Liquor) or Tarta de Santiago( Flourless Almond Cake w/Coffee Cream Sauce). You will think you are in heaven by the end of this dessert course!

The quality is high and portions are small (count on at least three tapas per person). Even though drinking and eating appetizers for a meal sounds like you will need a burger after, I assure you that you will leave satisfied, full, and drunk (atleast buzzed) when you leave. Above all, you will be happy!

Tapeo is so versatile in its ambiance that its a perfect date place, a perfect place to celebrate personal ocassions or for a bash with a large group. It has a loud, busy, yet romantic and intimate setting. Very friendly, quick and informative waiters.
